As taxi drivers, we spend a lot of our time picking people up from days out, evenings with friends, and weekends exploring Norfolk. We often hear great stories about where people have been, what they have seen, and which places they would visit again.
Being based in Norfolk gives us a front row seat to some brilliant spots across the county. From food and beaches to wildlife and live shows, there is always something going on. Below are a few local favourites that come up time and time again when chatting with our customers.
If you are looking for fine dining in a relaxed setting, The Ingham Swan is well worth a visit. The restaurant focuses on quality ingredients, with many dishes using locally sourced produce. It is a popular choice for celebrations or a special meal out, and it regularly features in conversations with customers on their way home.
Evenings out like this are often easier without worrying about parking or driving back afterwards, especially if you are enjoying good food and wine.
Norfolk has a wide range of beaches, from sandy stretches to quieter shingle bays. One of the most talked about is Horsey Gap, which is famous for its grey seal colony.
Horsey is a great place to visit throughout the year, but it is especially busy during seal pupping season. Visitors are asked to keep at least ten metres away from the seals and never stand between a pup and its mother, as this can cause distress or abandonment.
It is a special experience, particularly at sunrise or sunset, and planning your transport in advance can make the trip far more relaxed during busy periods.
If wine is more your thing, Bijou Wine Bar on Horning Road West in Wroxham is a local favourite. Bijou combines a wine bar, wine shop, and delicatessen, offering bottles from small wineries, local estates, and family run producers alongside well known names.
The staff are knowledgeable and happy to help if you are unsure what to choose, which makes it a welcoming spot whether you know your wine or just enjoy a good glass. It is an easy place to settle in for the evening without having to think about the journey home.
Cromer Pier is one of Norfolk’s best known entertainment venues. From tribute bands and touring acts to the much loved Christmas show, there is usually something for all ages.
Once the show ends, many people make a night of it by enjoying the sea views or stopping for fish and chips along the promenade. Coastal locations can be busy, especially during events, so having a straightforward way to get there and back can make the whole evening run more smoothly.
With our base close to Hickling, it would be impossible not to mention Hickling Broad and Marshes. It is the largest broad in the Upper Thurne river system and a key wildlife site in Norfolk.
The area supports species such as the common crane, bittern, marsh harrier, bearded tit, and Cetti’s warbler, making it a popular destination for birdwatchers and nature lovers. Like many nature reserves, access points can be spread out, so planning transport ahead of time can help you focus on enjoying the landscape rather than navigating unfamiliar roads.
Norfolk offers something different in every season, whether that is food, wildlife, coastlines, or live events. Many of these places are easier to enjoy when you can focus on the day out itself rather than parking, timings, or the journey home.
We know the local roads and routes well and are here to support you whenever you need to get from A to B across Norfolk.
